Letwise is built so that your portfolio stays yours. This page explains what the app keeps and where.
What Letwise stores
The properties you add, the checks you log and any certificate photos, scans or PDFs you attach, the expenses and receipts you record, tenancy details such as tenant names, rent, and the lead tenant's phone number and email if you enter them, and your settings.
Where it's kept
Everything is stored on your phone. There's no Letwise account and no Letwise server, so we never receive your data. Like your other apps, Letwise is included in your phone's own backups (iCloud or your device backup on iPhone, your Google account backup on Android), which you control.
Cloud backup and sync
Sync is off until you turn it on. When you do, Letwise keeps a copy of your portfolio, certificates and receipts in your own cloud storage: a private iCloud database on iPhone, or a hidden app folder in your Google Drive on Android. Only Letwise on your devices can read that folder, and we have no access to it. On Android, Letwise asks Google for permission to use that one app folder and nothing else in your Drive. Turn sync off at any time in Settings; to remove the cloud copy, delete Letwise's data from your iCloud or Google Drive storage settings.
Compliance packs and exports
Compliance packs (PDF) and expense exports (CSV and ZIP) are made on your phone and only go where you send them. Compliance packs leave out tenant names and contact details so they're safe to share.
Reminders
Reminders are worked out and scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent to us to make them work.
Contacting your tenant
Call, Text and Email open your phone's own apps. Letwise never sends a message itself.
Your tenants' details
If you store tenant contact details, you're responsible for them as a landlord under UK data protection law. Keep only what you need, and delete it when a tenancy ends.
Deleting your data
Delete a property in the app, use Settings › Erase all data, or remove the app.
Guidance, not legal advice
Letwise gives general guidance on landlord obligations in England, Wales and Scotland and links to official sources. It is not legal advice.
